Fannie and Freddie should allow write downs on the balances of borrowers who owe more than their
homes are worth, said Ed DeMarco, acting director for the agency.
UPDATE: FHFA had attempted several trial programs that included principal reduction but found them to
be unsuccessful. They will continue to evaluate mortgage modification programs and move forward with
other attempts to make homes more affordable, but at the present they will not endorse principal

Bankruptcy Question of the Week: Is my tax refund an exempt asset under the liquidation analysis test in a Chapter 7.
Answer: There are several parts of the refund that could be considered exempt. The Bankruptcy Trustees are careful to check if
you have been over withholding. It is best to call and discuss the issues of a tax refund with a bankruptcy attorney prior to filing yorur
